Planes
Marlborough is a 45-minute drive from Boston Logan airport, a major hub serviced by every single airline in the world, including several secret ones.
And if you know a guy who knows a guy who can land a plane on the 20 feet of strip at Marlborough Airport without landing in the Sudbury Reservoir, you could probably do that instead.
Trains
Boston is accessible by train from a number of east-coast destinations via Amtrak. Use your AAA card for a 10% discount. No wi-fi, but the snack car has as much old-world charm as you can get when pleather seats are involved.
From Boston, if you're not driving, you can take the MBTA Commuter Rail Framingham/Worcester line from South Station to Southborough and Ray's dad will probably pick you up if you're willing to stop for coffee with him at the local Starbucks; a brief but intelligent exposition on Comenius' Synopsis physicae ad lumen divinum reformatae might land you a free doppio at the local Starbucks.
Automobiles
The Sylvesters' house is about 45 minutes from Boston, eight hours from Washington, DC, four hours from New York, and two days, one hour from Seattle (take a plane). A car may be purchased from your local dealership of choice on either cash, lease, or credit; or obtained on loan from a rental agency.
